on another kick

I'm on another sewing kick! This time with matching applique shirts.

I made a seersucker skirt and crab applique shirt for CC!! I wish I could claim Emory's outfit too, but she's just there support!!

I have been making this easy easy easy yo-yo bows. I later found this website that explains how to do them. All I did was add this cover button and sewed/hot glue gunned it to an alligator clip. Aren't they cute! I found them on one website on sale for $8.99 and I made it in less than 5 minutes.


This is by far my favorite outfit I have made. This picture doesn't do it justice! CC looks precious in it!

I made a yo-yo bow to match!!

I added a ruffle to the bottom of the peasant top and bought her some adorable jeggings (she calls them her pajama jeans!!) to go with it for football season. I put a megaphone and pompom applique on it with War Eagle written at the bottom (not crazy about the font I used for the War Eagle, but it's still cute!)

The big 3-2

I celebrated my 32nd bday this Sunday! Bryan and the girls did a great job of making it a special one. They decorated with all the usual birthday 'stuff'- which the girls LOVE!

They got me a sunflower bday cake! How cute- Bryan thought it was summery:)

We went to church then came home for a birthday cake lunch. Bryan lined up a babysitter for us to go see Water For Elephants (so I got to spend some of my bday with RPatz too- heeehee!!!)- really good movie. Then we went to dinner at Chuy's! It really was a perfect birthday (Thank you Bryan:)

Christian even told the babysitter I was 23! And Emory talked her into letting them watch a movie in 'mama's bed' until we got home (Emory's new thing is saying 'one more minute' when we say it's time for bed). The babysitter called her a rebel....her cuteness sure does get her whatever she wants.....we might be in trouble later:):)

I got some great gifts, including this really special one that Christian felt I so desperately needed!

She was so excited about me opening it! Isn't that funny?! ANDDD....she is REALLY good at keeping a secret. I kept asking her what she got me and she would just giggle and say "a pig" or "an apple". She wouldn't budge.....believe me, I tried!!

Conversations with CC (and Daddy)

Bryan was putting Christian to bed, and she just wanted to talk instead of reading a book. So he started asking her silly questions( and this is all true!!)

Bryan: where do you see yourself in five years?
CC: umm, in the mirror!!

Bryan: if you were alone on an island, what's the one thing you would want to take with you?
CC: my family

Bryan: if you were in a boat with us and you had to throw someone out, who would it be?
CC: Emory
Bryan: why Emory?
CC:: because she can't dive

Our lazy weekend

This is the first weekend we have spent at home since May!!! And only 1 of 2 weekends we will be here this summer...whew!! Lots of fun things going on, but we are ready to stay put for a while. Poor Emory- every time we leave the house, she says "I wanna go my home"!!!

Friday night, after a fun (hot) day at the zoo, we went to an outdoor movie! Even though Emory kept chanting "I wanna my home", we all had a fun time.

They had bubbles, music, and sidewalk chalk for the kiddos. Emory LOVES bubbles and stood there forever blowing bubbles! She is so patient if it is something she wants to do:)



Of course, Kanani came with us.

Then Sophia and Elise came, so Kanani was forgotten. They ran around dancing and playing like crazy!

The movie was SpongeBob Square Pants, which CC loves (I always swore my kids would NEVER watch SpongeBob, but that didn't happen.....at least she doesn't quote movies yet and lets me know when they are saying something they shouldn't)

Then Saturday we had a baby shower for my BFF since 2nd grade, Shanna. She is having a little baby boy in November and now lives in Arizona. Since she doesn't live here and her favorite food is Dave's Pizza, we had that for lunch! Yummy!

While I was the shower, Bryan took the girls to a bday party at the train station! They had a blast riding the train and took extra long naps (which meant Bryan and I got to nap too:):)

She got so many cute baby boy clothes, fun baby 'things' (like pee pee teepees to use when you are changing their diapers:):), and lots of gift cards to use when they get back to Arizona.

The hostesses and preggo Shanna! It was so fun to see everyone and hangout with Shanna. We've got to get her back to the south soon!

Other than that, we have been taken it easy and hanging out at home! We finally were here to go to church and lay around with nothing to do- we all loved it.

Conversations with CC

Christian wants every single thing that she sees on a commercial. Lately, she thinks that I need every single product that has a commercial!

One morning, I was getting ready while she was laying in my bed watching TV.

C: Mama, do your jeans leave marks on your skin when you sit down?
Me: Ummmmmm, yes sometimes. Why? (honestly, I had NO idea where she was going and really was thinking if my own daughter thinks my jeans are tight then I need to go shopping!!!)
C: Well, then you need to get some pajama jeans. They are comfortable and soft.

Just a few minutes ago, while a Proactive commercial was on:

C: Mama, you need this because you have bumps all over your face and body and I think this will help.
************************************************************************************

C: Mom, we need Swivel Store because your spices are all over in the cabinet. It will help the cabinets look nice. Really mama, you do....and it's only $19.99!!!!

American Girl Weekend

This weekend we headed to the American Girl Doll store in Atlanta for Christian's birthday. She got birthday money to pick out a doll, clothes, etc. Friday night, we went to Gran and Pawpaw's to spend the night and leave Emory with them while we went on CC's bday trip.

This is the face Christian's 'excited face" she said she was going to make when we got to the store!

My friend, Fran, gave Christian a camera and book to remember her trip! She absolutely LOVED having her own camera to take pictures (great gift Fran- THANKS!). I can't wait to see what the pictures look like! (It was funny though- since it was a disposable camera, it has real film and not a screen to look at after you take the pictures. Christian could not understand why she had to turn a dial before taking another picture, why she couldn't see the picture she took, and why she was only allowed to take 36 pictures!) She just kept taking pictures of the most random things. Here she is taking a picture of me taking a picture of her!



She has known for weeks which one she wanted- Kanani, the Hawaiian girl of the year. I really wanted Kit (can you tell I was trying hard for her!), but Christian was set on Kanani and loves her! I had to keep telling myself that it was her birthday, not mine!!

Here we are after making our purchases and getting Kanani's ear's pierced! They gave her a long tutorial on how to care for her doll's hair and the do's and don'ts of what to do with her. Christian was really listening and tells us all the time what we need to do!

They really know how to make a little girl feel special. Every time we turned around someone was wishing CC a happy birthday and talking to her doll. She was eating it up!

We had lunch reservations at the American Girl Bistro and had a few minutes to kill. So we rode the carousel (she even got an extra ride b/c it was her birthday!)

Then we went to lunch where Kanani got her own seat (which we ended up going back to buy b/c Kanani HAS TO have somewhere to sit while CC eats:) Can't you see it in her face how happy she is!

and they sang happy birthday to her and she got to blow out a candle. She loved every second of it

Then we headed to our hotel, where we got the American Girl doll Birthday package.

CC checked in her and Kanani and got a crown for both of them.

She had to sign her name on a card that she got to use for a few dessert and candy bar. Everytime someone that worked there saw her, they would wish her a happy birthday!

While we were taking a rest in the room, we had milk, cookies, and a cupcake delivered to our room.

Then we got ready in our matching PJ's to watch an American Girl doll movie with all the other girls in the hotel.

There were about 15 other girls there with their dolls. You would have thought they had all been friends for years the way they were talking to each other about all the doll stuff they had. There were blankets and pillows laid out on the floor for the girls to watch the movie. They had popcorn, cotton candy, apples, and drinks for the kids and parents.

She did loose interest about 45 minutes into the movie, so we went swimming. Bryan and I were a little disappointed b/c the movie was really good.....and it was about Kit- the doll I wanted:):)

After a long busy day, we all crashed and slept in the next day. Christian had the BEST time ever, and it was well worth spending as much as we did on all the ridiculously priced doll accessories! I think she'll remember this forever! Now, let's just hope this doll phase last!

I still can't believe my baby is FIVE!

Five years ago today

Today is Christian's 5th birthday!! This is the BIGGEST day of her life! She has been waiting for this day for a long time. This morning she came into our room asking if today is the day she turned five. When we said yes, she went nuts! I honestly can not believe that my baby girl is FIVE and starting kindergarten in August. I am so proud of what a kind, nice, caring, and fun little girl she is. My heart could burst, I love her so much.

She is having an American Girl Doll birthday weekend. We are heading to Atlanta to spend the night and go to the American Girl doll store to pick out her doll and spend her birthday money. The hotel we are staying in has an American Girl doll package with a bed for the doll, milk and cookies with your doll, an American Girl doll movie with popcorn and a drink, and breakfast with your doll. I'm sure we'll take plenty of pictures to show ya!

We started our day off with all things FIVE! Five, five-shaped breakfast food (sausage, cinnamon roll, and toast) with five candles. She loved it!



We opened our presents from Mimi, Aunt Paige, and Emory----all American Girl doll clothes and accessories! They are packed and ready to go to Atlanta with us.




Then we had swimming lessons, where everyone sang Happy Birthday to her! Then her BFF, Sophia, came over for a McDonald's lunch, and Sophia brought cupcakes to help celebrate. They played and played and played

Then the 'no nap on my birthday' resulted in a birthday meltdown.

We quickly recovered from the meltdown and had a nutritious birthday dinner of hot dogs, goldfish, and cake!

Since they only like the icing, that's all they ate.:)

And, the birthday girl fell asleep at 7:30! It's tough being five!!!

Little Sis, Emory, has been singing "Happy Birthday to you, cha-cha-cha" every time she sees the cake! She loves a birthday and loves her sissy even more!
