UGH......sick days

Our weekend started off GREAT! It felt wonderful outside, so we immediately went outside to play while Daddy grilled out steaks.

Then this little love bug came inside BURNING UP! We took her temperture...103.2!!!!!!!!!!!! This momma FREAKED OUT! It just came out of the blue. She was completely fine when we got home around 4:00. But by 6:00, she was on fire. We pumped her with off-brand motrin and she went to bed. Bryan had to talk me into being patient and letting the medicine work before I called 911 b/c our daughter might catch on fire. Luckily, her temp went down. But still 102.1 in the morning. After a doctor visit, catheter to check for UTI, and a finger prick (which, of all thing....the band-aid made her cry hysterically. She couldn't STAND it being on her finger...weird- CC would cover her entire body in band-aids if we let her!), they determined it was just a virus. She was fine by 3:00 that afternoon!
Then CC and I headed to a costume birthday party with all of her school friends!

We had the best time bowling, face painting, and dancing!

By Sunday morning, CC was complaining of her tummy hurting and even wanted to go lay in her bed at 10:00 am(uh-oh....I knew it was going to be a rough day!). Around 11:30, it began....CC throwing up (both ends- gross, huh!). But she was such a big girl and let us know she was going to throw up while running to the bathroom. She even asked me to hold her hair back (reminded me of a few nights in college!!). Well....around 6:00 that night, MY tummy started hurting AND the stomach bug was passed on to me (I'll spare ya the details!) Rough night at the Congleton house, so CC and I stayed home Monday to get better. She was pretty much well by Monday, but not me! I slept ALL day while moaning and groaning. But my little CC might be the best nurse ever! She would rub my cheek, then kiss it, and whisper I love you in my ear. She even offered to turn my pillow "so it will feel cold on your head", put a pillow under my feet so my feet would feel better, and told me she would hold my hair. At one point I was leaning over a bucket thinking I was about to throw up with CC's face right in the bucket. When I asked her what she was doing, she said "Mom. Just throw up, okay. Just do it. I want to watch" GROSS but somehow cute!

Hopefully next weekend will be better for everyone! Unless Bryan gets it.......we all know how men handle being sick!!!):):): Love ya Bryan!!!!

B-I-N-G-O

fun game of 'wash and dry bingo'!
Papaw...did you know you played bingo with us????:)

"I WON"
Well, 9 years into teaching special education and it's finally kicking my ass. This is a very tough year and I'm finding that being a good special ed. teacher and a good mom is a VERY HARD COMBO! I am using every last bit of patience and energy between the hours of 7:30-3:00. Then trying to find some more energy to play and enjoy my own two kiddos. By the time they go to bed, I don't even have the energy to speak....poor Bryan (well, maybe he doesn't mind so much:):):)
I'll get to rest when my girls are 18, right??!!
Anyway, tomorrow's a new day!

Angela- don't worry- Christian and Emory can teach you this exclusive dance move. You're sure to be the hit of any party!!!!

and yes....this is Justin Beiber from the VMA's!

weekend fun

Emory and her friend, Charlotte.....Too bad there was food on the table which was taking all of Emory's attention!
The pizza place we went to had a pizza bar where kids could sit and play with pizza dough! CC loved it!

Sophia, Elise, CC, Emory, Claire, and baby Mary Caroline
6 girls sure does keep you entertained! Last time we were all together, Claire didn't have her baby sister yet!

Can you see Dr. Emory's little belly hanging out of her shirt! I think we have outgrown 18 month clothes!

CC- leave your sister ALONE!!!!!!

That's better! WAR EAGLE

These two love to dance and laugh together!
After the Friday I had at school, I needed a fun, relaxing weekend with friends.

teeth

Our girls are totally different sleepers. Both sleep very well, but Christian could sleep through ANYTHING. I go into Christian's room to clean it, put her clothes up, etc while she is asleep. When she was a baby, I would even vacuum while she was sleeping. Emory wakes up at the slightest sound you make while in her room. Even if you don't make a sound but enter her room she will wake up. Thank goodness she falls back asleep.
Anyway, one night last week, Bryan was going to take a picture of CC sleeping b/c she looked cute. So, he decided to take Emory's picture as well. This is what happened when he tried. She hopped right up and began posing! Then when right back to bed.
I titled this 'teeth' b/c Emory has the cutest gap between her front teeth! And it seems to be getting bigger. I'm hoping that it will close when she gets her 'real' teeth. If not, maybe that can be her trademark when she's famous!!

More conversations with Christian

All of this was said today. She's a nut!
Driving home from school, I usually have a juice and snack for the girls. Today, CC wanted some of Emory's juice b/c she had finished hers.
CC: Emory can you share your capri sun?
Emory: (shakes her head no while sipping her capri sun) nu-uh
CC: Emory, God made the world, God made the sea. Emory, God made that capri sun. So give it to me!!!!
(I AM NOT EVEN KIDDING!)
**********************************************************************************
sitting with Daddy while watching TV, she decided she wanted to get down
CC: I'm done now.
Bryan: Oh, you're done here.
CC: Yep. Good Game (shakes Bryan's hand)
***********************************************************************************
CC: Okay, mama and daddy, let's pray. say it after me.
Dear Jesus, pray for my friends, my friend, Sophia, daddy's friend Alex is sick. And God, make sure Emory doesn't hit or pull my hair anymore, okay. And make sure she doesn't break my toys.

Conversations with Christian

(this picture is with my new Canon Rebel that I love and can't seem to put down- Thanks Sam!)
The first few days before CC started 4K, we read The Kissing Hand which is about the little raccoon who is nervous about school and doesn't want to leave his mommy. His mother kisses the palm of his hand and tells him to put it to his cheek whenever he misses her and it will be just like she is kissing him. The first night after reading it, I kissed CC's hand and told her the same thing. The second night she kissed my hand and told me the same thing (which made me cry b/c I do miss her during the day).
Anyway, today on the way to 'nastics CC says:
ME: I love you Christian. I missed you today while I was at work.
CC: I love you too. Let me see your hand.
(I reached back and she kissed my hand.)
CC: Mama, just put your hand on your cheek and it's okay.
I do it at school when I want you.
Me: (speechless)
CC: Mama, I need you to kiss my hand again but I think your kiss came off.
HOW SWEET IS CHRISTIAN?! I hope she always loves me like that!

just because she's cute!

Surprise Surprise

While at my parents, we celebrated my dad's 30th (65th) birthday. CC and my mom made the easiest cake that was delicious- ice cream sandwich cake. you put a layer of ice cream sandwich. then a layer of cool whip, another layer of ice cream sandwich, another layer of cool whip- and your finished! SO easy for kiddos to make.
CC has been making books for each grandparent. They tell about things they do together. This is Papaw's book! She wrote about how they eat oreos together, they went to Disney World, they swim in the pool together, Papaw has white hair, and they toss the ball back and forth. She comes up with them all on her own....it's really cute to see what she says about each grandparent!

Every year we go to Destin outlet mall, my dad goes into the Bose outlet and talks about getting surround sound. I mean - EVERY YEAR for as long as I can remember. So my mom surprised him surround sound FINALLY! And Bryan gave him a 'certificate of service' to install it while we were there.
We also REALLY surprised my mom......

with a trip to ITALY!!!!!! Her dream trip is to Italy, since she is turning 25 (60) in January, my dad decided to surprise her early with a trip. She loves to plan trips, so we went ahead and told her early so that she can begin planning since we are going in June.
We completely caught her off guard! She had NO idea that she was getting anything and was shocked! Way to go Dad! We pulled it off!

Cheers to fun birthdays!

Since it was a big birthday for my dad, the people at his work decorated his office! Some pics of him were left over, so he made 'party favors' for his party at home! The girls love their 'Papaw fans"! Emory walks around with it constantly saying Papaw, papaw, papaw!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRAN AND PAPAW! We love you to death!

Labor Day weekend

My uncle, Sam, rebuilt this jeep! CC loved 'driving' it.
This is Sam. My BFF, Sarah's little boy! Isn't he a doll and such a great baby.
I was so happy to see Sarah and finally meet her little one!
We went to Ellen's house to kick off football season. I love spending time with her. I wish we lived in the same city.

I love these two! My favorite!

Papaw, Bryan, and CC went to feed the ducks and fish at the neighborhood lake. Christian loved feeding the baby ducks!

We got a mani/pedi! Thanks GRAN!

purple with flowers on her toes, pink with flowers on her fingernails! the girl knows what she wants and there is no changing her mind!

Emory is into doing puzzles and gets a lot of help from sister. CC is so patient with her and will say "blue circles goes in the blue circle" and show Emory what to do. Then Emory will instantly pick up the puzzle to undo it. It bothers CC to death! I heard her say to Emory this morning, "Fine Emory, you do it yourself!"

Emory practicing to be a doctor! Watch out for your eyes though, she will poke them out!
We headed to visit Gran and Papaw this weekend! We loved every second of the trip!

4K

Christian had her first day of 4K this past Wednesday. I went to parent night the night before and while the teacher was explaining the year I just knew CC was going to love it! They go on so many field trips, have a 'pet' (stuffed) monkey they bring home to take on an adventure, have centers, and everyone is a helper. They have a green, yellow, red light for their behavior. So far, CC comes home and tells me who gets on yellow and she always stays on green. (I have a feeling she might be the student that hears "Who do we need to worry about?" from the teacher often!) I was a little worried because she absolutely LOVES her 3K teacher, Ms. Celia. We still talk about her all the time and act like Ms. Celia when we play teacher. But she did tell me the second day with Ms. Donna- "I love Ms. Donna, AND love Ms. Celia." I'm so excited for her and couldn't have asked for a better teacher for my little CC!
