Still loves it!

Last Friday, Christian was the circle time helper at school. She absolutely loved every second of being the "teacher". So as soon as we got home on Friday, we had to play teacher.


She put stickers on the floor to show us where to sit and we had to sit crisscross applesauce ( or Indian style for those us that were in kindergarten in the 80's!). We each got to make up our own names. Bryan was 'Bobby". I was "Sally" and get ready....Emory named herself "Diamond Diamond"-( where the hell did she come up with that!!!)... As you may be able to tell Diamond Diamond was not following the rules and 'practicing respect" as Ms. Corridor (and where did that come from?!!) said.


So, ms. Corridor was getting upset.......


And sent Diamond Diamond to sign the OOPS book!! I have a feeling that this might not be the last time Diamond Diamond or Emory will have to sign an OOPS book!!!

Pooped

Christian fell asleep at 5:00 yesterday and didn't wake up until 5:45 this morning!!!! She was pooped!!
AND speaking of poo.......
Emory poo-pooed in the potty last night!!!!!! We danced around like crazy people and have an "I pooped" note on her bag to tell her teachers!!!!




With them waking up so early, the girls got breakfast in bed!

First Day of "BIG" School!!!

Well, WE SURVIVED!!!! Okay, fine- I survived.... Christian was so excited and had absolutely no problem with starting a new school! I only shed a few tears and it helped that I work at the same school and didn't have time to boo-hoo b/c I had to help all the other kindergartners find their classrooms.

Bryan and I spent the night decorating the kitchen and room to get everyone (me) ready for the big day!

Christian and I made little cups full of candy bars and wrote "I hope you have a 'sweet' first day of school" for her teachers in her class. She was really excited to give them this morning!

I put balloons at the foot of her bed to help with getting up in the morning- she's NOT a morning person, so this helped!!!

And here she is two minutes after being in the car. She had so much fun today!

We just all piled into Emory's bed and told our favorite parts of the day. CC's highlights of the day- being the door holder, building blocks on the table, going to the playground, and going to the kitchen (lunchroom).

I LOVE being at the same school as Christian! It's really fun to see/hear about her throughout the day! Ya know, I think my favorite part about being together is that I understand everything she is telling me about her day! I know how the school works, what the playground looks like, the yellow hair and brown hair lady in her class that she is talking about, how fun her PE teacher is...all the little details! So glad we are spending her first year together! After spending so much time analyzing and praying about where my Christian should spend her kindergarten year ( I honestly felt like it was one of the biggest decisions I have ever had to make!!), I think I 100% made the right choice. When I am 200 years old, I'll love being able to remember being with her everyday in kindergarten. It sure does make going to work easier. Now if only my school had a preschool program for Emory and an insurance office for Bryan I would be one happy mama/wife!!

I think we're ready

We've ironed her dress, fixed her snack, made her lunch, packed her bag... I have her bow laid out and curling iron ready to be turned on! The balloons are up and streamers hung!
We are bringing in Christian's school career with a bang!!! She has a surprise of balloons at the foot of her bed and streamers on her door waiting for her when she wakes up! We read The Night Before Kindergarten and The Kissing Hand tonight and she is READY! Not nervous at all. She told me she is excited! So, I will be too :/

Meet the teacher

Can you believe that this little girl has one day left before she is officially a kindergartener??!!!!!!
I honestly can not wrap my brain around how fast my kiddos are growing!!! Christian had "Meet The Teacher" today, and bryan and I were so proud of our little girl. She loved her teacher and even met a few friends( there were even 4 or 5 little girls with bows as big as hers!!!! Hopefully that will help with her wearing them longer. I'm dreading the day she refuses to put a bow on).
Her teacher is phenomenal, and I even have two of my friends in there who can take extra care of her ( Connie- you KNOW I will probably be emailing you twice a day to check in on her!! Please hug her hourly!! No pressure, huh?:):) I actually didn't cry today, and I forgot to take my camera, so I didn't take pictures, BUT I will make up for it on Thursday.
I was getting a little emotional/ sentimental with Christian tonight about how much I love her and I hope she loves school,etc. Then I was I putting her to bed she asked if I would rock her! I know she was doing it to prolong going to sleep, but you know what---- I DON'T CARE! I rocked and loved on her just like I did from day one of her little life. Then I got to thinking- I've been rocking her in that chair since before she was born. I used to sit in Christian's nursery in my rocker for hours while pregnant and think about life with my baby. And now all of a sudden, I have a five year old, perfect little girl who is starting school. I will be worthless the first day of school, I just know it.
Okay, enough of being sappy. I've got to get a Kleenex and wipe the tears from my face! Can you tell I'm having a hard time with sending CC to school?!

PAT- I finally finished sewing everything for the room! doesn't it look good?:):)

Since Emory and CC are sharing a room (which is going great and Emory loves her new bed!), we turned Emory's old room into a guest bedroom/playroom. At the beginning of the summer, I went to a fabric sale where I got a 15 yard bolt of this blue flower fabric for $10! I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but loved it. I'm so glad I remembered I bought it when it was time to decorate this room.

I was able to make a bed skirt, 4 curtain panels (I did get blackout material as the lining), and 2 Euro sham. I bought ruffle fabric to add some pink in the room b/c we had to have pink in a girl's room.

I made a pillow sham with a large yoyo flower on the front for the small pillow. I think it turned out great- it looks more like a flower in person.

I found these flowers while at the beach and fell in love! I think they are so fun!

I covered the lamp shade with ruffle fabric. It's actually a lamp shade that is already sticky and comes with a pattern to fit the shade. Just cut the pattern and stick on- so simple!

We were using this armoire as Emory's closet, but now we can use it to hold toys. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that we can close the doors on all this 'stuff' and it's not laying out in our house. And the girls actually like playing in there!! We bought Christian a CD player so she can dance and sing to her CD's and ipod. We have already had many So You Think You Can Dance shows where I judge Emory and CC on their dancing:)

more prepping

With our newly painted toes we went to get new school shoes. ARen't they so stinkin' cute.....silver sparkley TOMS.

Here is CC's bag she has to use for kindergarten (It has the school name in the center, but I covered that up in the picture). I'm not a big fan of the bag, so I tried to make it a little cuter. She picked out her lunchbox and water bottle. Now, we need to figure out her first of school outfit and how early we will need to wake up to curl her hair!! Can you believe the summer is over and school is already starting?!
