mostly swimming

Can't remember if I posted this or not......Emory and me at her Mother's Day 'Muffins with Mom"!

CC had her first swim meet in June. I wasn't sure what to expect, so I hadn't prepped CC for the day. She was EXTREMELY nervous! So much so that she wouldn't speak then started crying when it was time to swim. Her coaches helped her through it though!

The little guppies all swam and all earned a ribbon since it was more for practice.

After the first race, she won 3rd place and had calmed down. The 4th and final race was the breast stroke, which she had never done before. We were out of town when they taught the stroke, so the coaches gave her a quick lesson out of the water. Well, she must have been confused b/c she turned on her back while trying to do the breast stroke. She wasn't moving anywhere but kept moving her arms b/c that's what the coach said to do! She started to panic and so did I. For a split second, I almost jumped in the water to save her b/c she was panicking so much! It was terrifying! A group of us were screaming at her, but she couldn't hear us. Finally we just told her to swim however she wanted to the other side! A few moms asked me her name and started cheering her on. I felt so sorry for my Christian, but she made it to the other side and got 5th place! Next year, I will make sure we are at every practice- ha!!!

Three 3rd place and one 5th place!! So proud of CC and Sophia!
Can't wait for next year!

beach with Mimi and Grandaddy

(Get ready- lots of blogs coming....starting from middle of June!)

We headed to the beach with Mimi and Grandaddy and had such a fun time! Here is Mimi and Emory- one of the ONLY times Emory would get in the water! She was/is not a fan of the ocean!))

We ate and did the zip line at Baytowne Wharf
 played on the beach.

 CC and Granddaddy boogie boarding!!

Bryan and I went out to dinner with our friends, Blair and Heather, who are in town for the summer from Hong Kong! It was great to see them!

you would never know that Blair and Bryan hadn't seen each other in a year!

CC met a friend and played non stop with him.

Here's Emory refusing to play b/c she wanted to go to the pool!

flying a kite that almost hit everyone around us!

We had so much fun! Thank you Mimi and Grandaddy!

Something else to remember

I have a ton to blog about- Getting my pictures ready then there will be a blog post overload
But first, gotta remember this. We are driving in the car talking about the movie Brave. CC just said "never ask a witch to change your feet. You may turn into a bear."
If you haven't seen the movie, a princess asked a witch to change her FATE, so she doesn't have to be the queen. Then her mom turns into a bear.
Christian must have been SO confused the entire movie that all that would happen just by asking someone to change her feet!!!
My sweet Christian- love her to death!

So I don't forget

Today while driving around town in my dad's car (more on that later!) the girls wanted to listen to music on the iPod. I was trying to explain that I didn't know how to work Pawpaw's radio and Emory yelled, "But mama, I just want to jam out!" I almost wet my pants!!! Where does she come up with these things!!

quick stop during a long day!

On the way home Sunday, we decided to stop at Mammoth Cave to break up the trip ( we all needed a little break from Emory asking "are we there yet?"every 2 minutes!!)
I'm really glad we did. We all had a fun time and the girls really enjoyed it.

I did something I always said I would never do!!! We pulled over, had the girls get out of the car and take a picture in front of the sign!

Emory was not really excited at first. "It's dark" ,"there are alligators", "are there bugs?"are a few reasons she gave us. Once we got in, she was okay though. Until one of the rangers told the story about a hunter following a bear and stumbled upon the cave. From then on, she kept thinking she saw the bear and bear skin(?). No matter how many times we explained that was a LONG time ago, she swore there was a bear in there!

We went from 104 degrees outside to 54 degrees in the cave. It felt great! But coming out was miserable- it felt like you couldn't breathe for a few minutes until you got used to the heat again.

They became Junior Rangers- earned a badge and certificate for going in the cave

then the highlight for Christian was going to the Rock Shop. She picked out some really pretty rocks to add to her collection. She honestly could have spent the entire day looking at rocks- even in the 104 heat!

It was  perfect stop to break up the trip. They fell asleep before we were back on the highway and slept for the majority of the way home. Even though it took us about 12 hours to get home, I'm glad we stopped! I kinda wish I were more of an 'outside' girl because it would be fun to tour all the national parks, wouldn't it?!

still can't believe it!

We celebrated CC's actual birthday while in Kentucky for my cousin's wedding. She had such a fun day!

We started off by going to my Aunt Pat's house for a breakfast cupcake and presents. We brought our present up there for her to open! She picked out a sewing machine so she can sew with me!! YAY!!! This sewing machine is actually for ages 6 and up. It actually sews too! I found an easy American Girl pattern- Can't wait to teach her!

EMory got some sun glasses from Gran and Pawpaw!

Justin Beiber movie and perfume from Gran and Pawpaw too!

She got a ring from Gran and Pawpaw and a bracelet from us.

cute pic of Gran and Emory!

After breakfast we went to Covington, Kentucky to the house where my dad and aunt grew up.

Emory and CC wanted to stop on everyone's front steps to take pictures!

Pawpaw and Pat walked up and down remembering all the families who lived in each house and talked about what they did as a kid. Fun to listen to!

We walked to the Mainstrasse Clock tower to hear the chimes.

Emory putting her quiet finger up to pray when we heard an ambulance drive by. CC's kindergarten teacher did that whenever they heard a siren while in school. And the girls continue to do it now....yet another reason why I love Mrs. Morton!

Emory and CC with their 'beer goggles' on! (we went into a german store along the walk. I had to put this on the girls to take a picture!!)

This was Christian's FAVORITE part of her birthday! The wedding party rode in the biggest limo I have ever seen. They let CC ride to the reception in it and it absolutely made her day! She's still talking about it.
Can't you just see the excitement in her face!

Happy Birthday Christian! I still can't believe you are SIX YEARS OLD! We love you so much and couldn't be more proud of what a sweet, kind, caring girl you are!

Emory- you're silly!

While at the wedding, I was trying to get a cute picture with Emory. Bryan would count to three and EVERY SINGLE TIME he got to three, Emory would make a silly face. They were too cute on to share! Silly girl. She thought it was hilarious. And it actually was!!!
